Non essere piatosa a gastigarlo quando offende Dio, in qualunque età si sia; nè ancor sì crudele che tu il faccia da te fuggire. E sia abile di premiarlo quando fa bene, acciò s'accenda, o per amor delle scarpette nuove, o nuovo calamaio, o tavola di gesso, o altre cose gli sieno di bisogno e a lui grate, a far meglio. Ogni fatica desidera essere premiata, e il fanciullo ama doni e remunerazione.
