Crowley teaches the history of design at the Royal College of Art. He
specialises in the history of Eastern Europe in the nineteenth and twentieth
centuries. He has published a number of books including National Style
and Nation-state. Design in Poland (MUP, 1992) and is editing
with Susan E. Reid a number of books on the material culture of Eastern
Europe including Style and Socialism. Modernity and Material Culture
of Post-War Eastern Europe (Berg, 2000) and Socialist Spaces
(Berg, forthcoming). He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Design
History. His Focused Study for the Centre is Domestic Space in the
Cold War, 1947-1991. <<back |
